We decided to create this site because as Nutritional Therapists we wanted to share with everyone what we actually eat. We are working mothers to young children and don’t have the time to spend hours in the kitchen creating visual masterpieces with handpicked ‘superfoods’. We live in the real world; we cut corners, we stare at empty fridges and we cheat when we need to.
Our philosophy is to ensure that the food we serve at home is the healthiest it can be and that we’ve extracted the most nutrition out of the ingredients we use – whether that be a clove of garlic or a bottle of olive oil. It’s not always about what we have to hand, but how we use it that really makes the difference to the nutritional quality of the meal we are eating.
The recipes on our site are the foods that we regularly serve to our families and friends, our staples if you like. Trustworthy recipes that work, are easy and provide all the nutrients our growing families need. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do and see that being healthy doesn’t mean being perfect…it’s about understanding how to select, prepare and store ingredients so that they work for you, not against you.
We’ve been practising Nutritional Therapists for over 10 years. We’ve been obsessional, strict and ‘perfect’ but then came kids…
Sleep deprivation and the chaos of young kids meant we no longer had time to spend on getting it right every day, we needed quick fixes that still satisfied our nutritional principles but that didn’t involve fermenting, sprouting and drinking superfood powders. Life became simple – get through the day and get a good night’s sleep!
As we embraced our new lives we started this blog to share our hassle-free recipes and practical nutrition tips. We found our friends and families were constantly asking for advice and it seemed the easiest way to share what we were doing.
Now we’re both back in our clinic, seeing clients everyday and our website has developed to offer information to clients too who may need support in how to cook with new ingredients or to understand how certain foods may be impacting their health.
Sharing our understanding of how food choices affect health and wellbeing is our passion. It’s not about a ‘diet’ it’s a lifestyle – one that tastes great, fits into busy lives and doesn’t cost the earth.

Registered Nutritional Therapist and Homeopath
I am a qualified Nutritional Therapist and Homeopath and have been practicing in our busy clinic for over ten years. I also regularly write for various books, magazines and websites.
With my busy schedule I often find myself staring at an empty fridge wanting a super-fast meal that the whole family can enjoy. I’m not keen on spending hours in the kitchen, or recipes with long lists of ingredients. I want to be able to eat nutritious food with minimal effort.
I’m lucky enough to have two harsh food critics at home – my daughters are ruthlessly honest and help me adapt recipes to be ‘child-friendly’. This helps me to keep it real. It’s all too easy to go off on a tangent with food and become obsessive by nutrition at the expense of taste. I’ve been there and there’s no joy in crunching on raw cauliflower whilst sipping a spirulina powder smoothie. Trust me!
Having kids definitely relaxed my outlook on nutrition. Food should be fun not fanatical. Meals are social, relaxed, happy occasions and I strongly feel that it’s important that everyone gets full enjoyment from what they are eating as well as health benefits. It’s the combination of happy mind, happy body that makes us strong and healthy.

I started my career in the City of London, in the jet-setting world of International Banking after gaining a degree in Economics and Geography; I loved the travel, the people I met, the cultures I learned about and the different foods I experienced. For a while, I loved the lifestyle too (and the job was ok).
But eventually my corporate lifestyle made me ill. The doctors didn’t know what was wrong so I visited a Nutritional Therapist as a last resort. I exercised and ate well – and within just a matter of months I was back on my feet and more energized than I had ever been. I was totally amazed at how quickly my body responded to such simple changes in diet and lifestyle; I wanted to tell people what had happened to me – how food and drink can make such a difference to how you look and feel.
So I ditched the corporate career ladder, retrained as a Personal Trainer and 3 years later, in 2005, graduated with distinction as a Nutritional Therapist from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition. I’ve been in private practice ever since, have tutored at ION for a number of years, and love researching, writing and talking – to anyone who will listen – about nutrition. I’m currently continuing my nutrition education, studying with the Institute for Functional Medicine in the USA as a Functional Medicine Practitioner.
At home I have my own ‘nutrition garden’, where I experiment growing different fruits and veggies. I feel really strongly that my children should understand where food comes from (both plants and animals) and get to experience ‘proper’ food that tastes great and keeps the whole family healthy.
