What we Do Best: A Root Cause Approach
At Eat Drink Live Well, we specialise in helping people with complex health issues—histamine intolerance, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), mould illness, brain fog, and ‘mystery’ illnesses—find answers when conventional medicine falls short.
We use a functional medicine approach, which seeks to uncover the root causes of symptoms. Rather than masking symptoms, we ask why they’re happening, identify underlying imbalances, and create personalised strategies to optimise health. We passionately believe that good nutrition and lifestyle are the cornerstones of health, and that’s where we start

Functional Medicine & Nutrition
Functional Medicine views health holistically, examining how your genetics, environment, diet, and lifestyle interact to influence your symptoms.

We integrate evidence-based research with your unique clinical history and circumstances, layered with targeted laboratory testing, to create a personalised plan just for you. Our clinical experience, with nearly two decades of working as nutritionists and functional medicine practitioners, allows us to effectively weave together programmes that are based on data yet are achievable and realistic to follow.
Think of your health as a tree. If the leaves (symptoms) are unhealthy, we don’t just stick them back on—we look at the roots to see what’s driving the problem. By nourishing your “roots” with targeted nutrition, sleep, relaxation, and optimising body systems such as digestive function, hormone balance, and detoxification, your body is better able to return to equilibrium.

Histamine & MCAS - Understanding the Bigger Picture
Struggling with unexplained reactions to foods or chemicals, brain fog, neurological issues, migraines, digestive problems, hormone imbalances, skin rashes, hypermobility, motion sickness, dizziness, or sensitivities that seem to change daily?
These can all be symptoms of histamine intolerance, extending far beyond the conventional ‘seasonal allergies’ traditionally associated with histamine. For some, these symptoms can be life-changing.
Histamine intolerance can be a component of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) or independent of it. Mast Cells are an essential part of our immune defences, but sometimes they can become overactive, releasing histamine and other inflammatory compounds inappropriately. Understanding what is happening and, more importantly, why, is key to managing excessive activity. These complex issues often signal deeper imbalances in the body’s ability to process and regulate histamine or unidentified triggers that are upsetting the mast cells.
Rather than simply avoiding high-histamine foods or relying on symptom relief, we take a deeper approach—helping you uncover why your body is struggling with histamine in the first place. Factors such as gut health, mould exposure, stress, immune dysregulation, viruses (including Covid), microbiome and nutrient imbalances can all contribute to an overwhelmed histamine system. By identifying and addressing these root causes, we aim to support your body’s ability to regulate histamine more effectively.
Through a personalised, science-backed approach, we help you to explore your triggers, optimise histamine metabolism, and guide you toward sustainable strategies that go beyond restrictive diets. If you’re ready to move past symptom management and gain a deeper understanding of what’s driving your sensitivities, we’re here to help.

Mould Toxicity & CIRS - Understanding the Impact
Read More
Mould is a potent environmental stressor that can affect the body in ways many people don’t realise. Found in water-damaged buildings, a mould ‘soup’ contains many different compounds that may impact health. Airborne spores may release mycotoxins and can contribute to symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue, respiratory issues, and skin reactions. For some, exposure leads to lingering symptoms, disrupting the immune, nervous, and detoxification systems.
Not everyone reacts to mould the same way, in part due to genetics and in part due to the number of other triggering factors we are exposed to. But for those with mould sensitivity or compromised detox pathways, symptoms may persist long after leaving the exposure. In combination with a thorough clinical history, testing methods such as mycotoxin urine tests, antibody tests, Visual Contrast Sensitivity tests, environmental mould assessments, and inflammatory blood markers can help identify whether mould is contributing to ongoing health challenges.
While removing exposure is a crucial first step, some individuals may benefit from a targeted detoxification approach to support their body’s ability to process and eliminate mould toxins effectively, calm overactive mast cells, and restore balance.
For some with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), mould exposure or tick-borne diseases such as Lyme Disease may contribute to an ongoing immune response, leading to widespread inflammation and multi-system dysfunction. Managing CIRS involves a structured, step-by-step protocol to support immune function, reduce biotoxin burden, and restore balance over time.
If you suspect mould is affecting your health, we can guide you through the options—from testing and exposure reduction to personalised strategies to support recovery.

Environmental Toxicity
We are exposed to thousands of chemicals daily—many of which can interfere with our health in ways we don’t immediately recognise.
Pesticides, glyphosate, microplastics, PFAS (‘forever chemicals’), and heavy metals like mercury, arsenic, and lead can accumulate in the body over time, disrupting key systems. These toxins may be stored in body tissues, cross the blood-brain barrier, place pressure on detox pathways, contribute to inflammation, interfere with hormones, and affect mitochondrial health.
For many, symptoms like brain fog, persistent fatigue, gut issues, and hormone imbalances may be linked to toxic exposures. Identifying sources, using functional testing to assess toxic burden, and supporting the body’s natural detoxification processes are key steps in optimising health. We frequently find that environmental toxins are present in clients with mast cell activation, and while achieving zero exposure in today’s world is unrealistic, there are ways to enhance detoxification capacity and reduce overall exposure.
If you’re experiencing unexplained sensitivities, inflammation, or histamine-related issues, environmental toxicity could be a missing piece of the puzzle.

Brain Fog
Read More
Brain fog can arise from various factors, including inadequate sleep, environmental exposures (such as mould), microbial imbalances, hormone fluctuations, inefficient detoxification, histamine intolerance, stress, mast cell activation, food sensitivities, and gut microbiome disruptions. When these systems become overwhelmed, cognitive clarity may decline, resulting in difficulties with focus, memory, and mental energy.
Rather than simply managing symptoms, we take a root-cause approach to explore potential contributors to brain fog. By assessing lifestyle, diet, environmental exposures, and physiological imbalances, we help clients implement personalised strategies to support cognitive function. Addressing underlying triggers—such as inflammation, hormonal changes, or toxin accumulation—may help optimise mental clarity and overall brain health.
If persistent brain fog is affecting your daily life, we offer structured guidance to help you better understand contributing factors and explore supportive strategies tailored to your unique needs.
